Flashback: My Wedding Vows to Suzy
Suzy --- we grew up less than a mile apart. We explored the same hallways in middle school. We rode the same Muni busses to many of the same San Francisco destinations. We watched the same movies in the same theaters. Our families took us shopping for groceries at the same supermarkets. It seems as if we could have met each other a million times, but time kept us apart.
Thankfully, it took only a moment for the 6 and a half year barrier between us to crumble. On your first day of work at Apple, I remember being quickly, if not instantly, captivated by your bright smile. And that was when you still had braces! Your innate sweetness and deeply joyful soul brightened everyone's day --- especially mine. As I learned about our common interest in filmmaking and our shared status as San Francisco natives, it became obvious I had to learn more about you.
Suzy, over the last [18 and a half years], it has been my great pleasure to explore your brilliant spirit, amusing sense of humor, passion for creativity, and desire for adventure. You and I have experienced some of the best moments of our lives together. In the same time, we've supported each other through the (many) obstacles life has thrown at us and accomplished the incredible as a team. Your smile has gotten even more beautiful and your seemingly infinite supply of joy has become even brighter. The rest of you is pretty incredible, too. Truly, you are the biggest and most fantastic adventure of my life.
As your husband, I promise to cherish you every day, share your happiness, protect you from sadness, respect your ideas, support your endeavors, take pride in your being, and stoke the seemingly magical joy that you bring to me and everyone fortunate enough to make your acquaintance. I will take great honor in --- and be fully devoted to --- sharing the adventure of life with you. Above all, I will constantly strive to improve myself each day for the rest of our lives together.
Suzy, I love you more today than I did yesterday. And I will love you more tomorrow than I do today. You are my best friend and I can't imagine spending my life with anyone else.
